The film "Ice Cold in Alex" was the inspiration for this Austin K2 Ambulance in North Africa, as well as providing a great source of reference. This old timer from Airfix required quite a bit of tweaking plus some new wheels and axles from CMSC accessory set No.A22. The set consists of four wheels (no spare), four suspension springs, two axles and a drive shaft, which is now available from Friendship Models. Airfix produced the K2 ambulance in white plastic so it is difficult see where I have made my plasticard additions, but the main scratch built components are:- windscreen, rear mudguards, flimsy can racks and rear steps. The base colour was airbrushed with all other paint work and weathering hand brushed.
